\nSince its founding in 2019, the CNFO has represented Ontario's Francophone Black communities before various bodies and strengthened the capacity of the organizations that serve them.\n<\/p><\/div><\/section>

\nBringing together and serving\n<\/h2>

\nThe Coalition of Francophone Black People of Ontario (CNFO) strengthens collaboration and supports the economic development of Francophone Black communities by building the capacity of the organizations and associations that serve them, so they can offer essential free financial empowerment services, namely tax filing and help accessing benefits.\n<\/p><\/article>

\nNearly twenty years of mobilization\n<\/h2>

\nFrom the Union provinciale des minorit\u00e9s raciales et ethnoculturelles francophones (UPMREF) to the CNFO, a journey driven by the community.\n<\/p>\"\u00c9v\u00e9nement<\/div>

  1. \n2003\n<\/p>

    \nRestructuring of the provincial ACFO. Regional consultations in Ontario. Creation of a working committee to found the Union provinciale des minorit\u00e9s raciales et ethnoculturelles francophones (UPMREF).\n<\/p><\/li>

  2. \n2005\n<\/p>

    \nOfficial launch of the UPMREF in Ottawa. Funding granted by Canadian Heritage.\n<\/p><\/li>

  3. \n2006\n<\/p>

    \nFirst annual general meeting (AGM) of the UPMREF, held during the convention of the Assembl\u00e9e de la francophonie de l'Ontario (AFO).\n<\/p><\/li>

  4. \n2007\u20132016\n<\/p>

    \nA period of organizational difficulties and leadership changes.\n<\/p><\/li>

  5. \n2017\n<\/p>

    \nEstablishment of an ad hoc committee to begin creating the CNFO. Consultations with key organizations in the Francophone Black community, including Auberge francophone, C\u00c9SOC, CIFS, Passerelle I.D.E. and REPFO. Official adoption of the name \"Francophone Black people\" (Noirs francophones) to replace \"MREF\".\n<\/p><\/li>

  6. \n2019\n<\/p>

    \nCNFO founding assembly.\n<\/p><\/li>

  7. \n2020\n<\/p>

    \nOfficial incorporation of the CNFO. Strategic meetings with institutional and political partners. Community consultations and awareness activities on racism and mental health.\n<\/p><\/li>

  8. \n2021\n<\/p>

    \nFirst annual general meeting of the CNFO. Official recognition and funding from the federal government. Launch of structuring projects, provincial consultations and adoption of the strategic plan.\n<\/p><\/li><\/ol><\/div><\/section>
