The CNFO in Geneva: bringing the issues of Ontario's Francophone Black people to the international stage

From April 14 to 17, 2026, in Geneva, the fifth session of the Permanent Forum on People of African Descent brought together committed leaders around issues of justice, equity and the development of Black communities.

The Coalition of Francophone Black People of Ontario (CNFO) was proudly represented by its president, Julie Lutete, accompanied by Marlène Thélusma and Gouled Hassan.

🎤 In her remarks, Ms. Lutete highlighted a major issue: systemic discrimination within Ontario's justice system. This presentation is part of a collaboration with Statistics Canada aimed at documenting and better understanding these inequalities.

🤝 This participation also strengthened ties with international stakeholders, including Gaynel Curry, and positioned the CNFO as a key player in global discussions on the rights of people of African descent.

Because the realities of Francophone Black people in Ontario deserve to be heard, recognized and taken into account, both here and internationally.
